"Why do pain and suffering matter? Why do we care when we here of someone suffering?" asked my husband. "Because. They are made in the image of God, and He cares! Being made in His image gives humans worth, and that's why it matters!"
Seems like just yesterday I heard my husband preaching this message at our home church. It resonated all the way through my heart, especially when I remember that God says we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14) Each one of us.
Do you realize that God cares about what you are going through? Do you know that He wants to be a part of the healing? Has anyone told you that you are so very loved? Do you know why it matters? I know it doesn't make sense that God would love us so much He would send Jesus for us. It doesn't add up that He wants to be a part of our daily life-especially when all that dailyness seems to add up to not much. But it is true. And it's not because you are perfect, got it all together, look good, or have things all worked out. It's because He made you in His image, and you are one of His marvelous works.
So, maybe the right question for the end of this post is, "Why aren't you letting Him in? Why won't you come to Him for forgiveness? Why won't you rest in His finished work?"
Today is the day. Give Him your heart, asking Him to not just forgive your sins, but be the Lord of your life.
