"Close the door."
"Sit close to me."
English isn't hard! Ha! I wondered which word I would write on for this day, but I guess there is no reason I can't write on both!
The other day in my daughter's sunday school class, the lesson was on how to be a good Christian. At least, that was her take on the lesson. Read your Bible, witness, give, serve, and so on and so forth. As she is reciting some of what they discussed, I interrupted and asked, "Why does it matter if we are a good Christian?" Only a second of a pause before she answered with, "Because we need to be close to God. and His commands are all ways we can be close to Him."
Ahhhh. Yes. Jesus said if we love Him we will keep His commandments (words) and not a one is meant as a punishment or above what we can do through the help of the Holy Spirit. All are meant to keep us in close communion with Him.
But they do require us to close the door that we might try to keep ajar for the world.
