Before getting saved, I thought my life was my story to write. I may not have picked the first page, chapter, or even some of the middle ones, but I thought I certainly had the power to write the rest of it. Then, I got saved. Then, I saw Jesus for who He is. Then, I accepted this life isn’t my story to write. It is His. When people ask for my “story,” I do not mind starting at the beginning, even if the beginning isn’t my favorite. Why? Because He has taken that beginning and made it into something that brings Him glory. My marriage is one of those stories. We had our oldest two years before we got married. For most of the pregnancy, we were not even together as a couple. September 11th happened, and things changed. Ahmet joined the Navy, and his first phone call and letter home were declarations of love and a proposal of marriage. Life changed. Through these past fifteen years, we have had some really hard ones. We have also had some really beautiful ones. God has taken us and made us strong together. He has made this story for His glory. If you ask either one of us, we will tell you that while it takes work and commitment, the biggest game changer in our marriage is Him and His grace.
1 Thessalonians 5: 24 “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” I guess this verse is not really about a “story” or marriage, but when I think of us, Ahmet and me, this is the verse that usually comes to mind. There is not a doubt in my heart that what called has called us to as a couple, He will do. He will write this story for His glory, and it will be far greater than any I can write.
Hi! My name is Rachael and I am a child of God. I was saved from sin and all its bondage at the age of 21. I am married to an incredible man. He constantly challenges me to grow closer to my Saviour. We have three beautiful children that love the Lord. Currently, our family is preparing to go to Thailand as missionaries.
