I have heard it said that going to the foreign mission field brings out all the scum in your heart. It would be great if I could say that wasn’t the case for me, but instead, I have found myself crying out to the Lord, “Create in my a clean heart! Create in me a clean heart!!!!” Almost like He some how didn’t hear me the first time…or the 200 hundreth. Maybe it is just culture or stress, but I think it is part of the surrender. Are we really willing to let go of ourselves to cling to Him? Out of our comfort zone, we often seem to try even harder in our own strength. Our attempts to walk in the Spirit so we don’t fulfill the lust of the flesh become more about us than God. And walking in the lusts of the flesh becomes easier to justify when you are in the middle of what feels like chaos. But as you walk, learn, and listen when the Spirit pricks your heart, your cry of frustration about the outward circumstances is turned back to God, so He can change the inward heart.
*** Psalm 51: 10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”
Hi! My name is Rachael and I am a child of God. I was saved from sin and all its bondage at the age of 21. I am married to an incredible man. He constantly challenges me to grow closer to my Saviour. We have three beautiful children that love the Lord. Currently, our family is preparing to go to Thailand as missionaries.
