Doing all three for Jesus.
Last year was a full and busy year, but it did not seem to fly by as quickly as other years. I am not sure why, but 2016 feels like it has lasted quite a while. Maybe it is because I started the year determined to be more intentional in my daily life by focusing on who I was with and what I was doing???? All I know is I am ready for a new year–at least I think I am……
Every year I ask the Lord to give me a verse for the upcoming year. (This is seperate from my regular verse memorization.) I am specific in my request, because I want one that will walk me through the trials and triumphs coming my way. The goal is that He will use the verse in my life, making His Word a part of who I am, and growing my understanding of, and love for, Him. The past several years have been verses dealing with afflictions, praise in trials, and the hope of Heaven, but as I look ahead to 2017, I can’t help but wonder if this year’s verse will be about trust. There are many decisions and changes coming in the next year that I can see being difficult as I walk through them. I will need to trust God is leading and guiding, doing what is best, and working out His will– not in just my life, but also in the lives of those around me.
Have you ever asked the Lord for a yearly verse? Many times we search His Word for verses specific to whatever situation we are facing, but what about seeking in advance? Or asking Him to give you a verse that will help you know Him better by the end of the year? If you want to see more of God’s grace, memorize a verse (or more) about His grace, and you will be amazed at all the ways it will become evident in your daily life. Wondering just how much God loves you? Find a verse on His love, and I guarantee you will not only know you are loved, but be more loving by the end of the year. Feeling like you need to become more diligent and disclpined? Learn how God views our work, and your motivation will increase! The list goes on and on….
I encourage you as a way of growing your relationship with Him this year, to memorize a verse-or even better, make verse memorization part of your daily Bible and prayer time.
