Doing all three for Jesus.
I was encouraged by a fellow missionary and blogger to join Five Minute Friday’s “31 Days of Writing” challenge. FMF provides a one word prompt and I write for five minutes. There was a momentary lapse of good sense on my part, and I whole heartedly agreed. So…..I apologize in advance to those of you who receive updates by email. You will be getting a lot of emails from me this month. I do think this writing is going to be quite different from my normal “style” or “voice” but it will be good to challenge myself in this way. Througout the month, I would love to hear your thoughts on the word-of-the-day, so chime in through comments! Happy reading!
Without further delay-the first post!
It is not just the object of our worship that is so different; it is also how we worship. I worship the one true God; they worship an image. I want to live a life of worship; they tend to worship only when life goes wrong. Naturally, I wondered (and worried) how this background would influence their worship of God. A valid concern in many respects. My biggest concern, though? Would we be able to worship Him together? A ridiculous worry in all repsects.
We raise our voices together in song-sometimes in the same language, and sometimes not. We share verses from our Bible reading that God used to strengthen us, and we worship Him who sent those words for us. We praise the One who answered our prayers, and sent us our trials. We look into each others eyes, and recognize the love shining there, because it is the same love flowing from our heart.
Psalm 86: 9 & 10 “All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name. For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.”
